Como foi prometido, lhe escrevo minha opinião da nossa visita ao Amazon Tupana Lodge (em inglês)
Our experience was deceiving. There were a number of things that didn’t work out.
* Food was scarce! It didn’t matter how many travelers were staying at the lodge, the amount of food was always the same, and really scarce. You had to be the first one in the line to manage to get some good portion. This was ridiculous, and nothing changed despite many visitors complained about it.
* It was allowed to smoke anywhere in the lodge. You come from thousand of kilometers away to enjoy nature, and it’s really annoying to find this situation. We were even fishing “piranhas” on a small boat, and the Austrian couple that smoked everywhere also smoked 5 cigarrettes there. I complained many times, and only when I really became angry, that the situation changed a bit.
* The vehicle they use to take you to the lodge is really bad. We were not expecting air condition or full comfort, but not that shitty van they used (and the trip takes 4 hours to reach the lodge). Very dirty and not really safe.
* The guides were lazy and only looking to do the minimum possible (there was only one exception). They never offered us for options: they decided for us what “we wanted” to do. Everytime we had to ask several times to know about the possible activities so that we could chose those that we were interested in.
* In the advertisement of the lodge, they said that there was electricity running at night between 20:00 and 6:00 am. One of the reasons to choose this lodge was because my father needs a device to sleep, because he has apnea problems. The first night, there was no electricity and they told us that was because one of the engines was damaged. We told them about the health problem, but they didn’t react properly. A disaster. Moreover, the extrem heat made it very difficult to sleep without the fans working.
* The lodge was needing some urgent maintenance. Some of the stairs were in really bad conditions.
Almost everything was a disaster, and what they charge is not precisely cheap.
