Amazon Tupana

Hello Luciana,

Viverde was very easy to communicate with and organised everything they said they would with no problems. We had done most of our research ourselves so had very few requirements or questions other than to book the lodge.

The transfers to Amazon Tupana Lodge were an adventure in themselves as previous bloggers have mentioned. The taxi driver from the airport was nice and the water taxi stopped for us to look at the meeting of the waters and moved on when we were ready. The Kombi ride was an experience and as others have mentioned, the road is in a terrible condition but don’t let this be a deterrent. Nicodemos collected us in the lodge’s speedboat and took us on an adventurous ride through the flooded river and trees to the lodge.

Tupana Lodge was great. It gave my wife and i exactly what we were after and that is an isolated non package tour type stay in the jungle. Rosivaldo our guide was fantastic. His knowledge, friendliness and calmness really added to our experience. Cicero, our Canoeira (boatman) was with us during all our activities and amazed us with his knowledge in jungle survival and the way he could create tools such as a carry bag out of a palm branch to carry fresh fruit picked straight from the forest back with us to the lodge. Cicero even called the caiman’s whilst on the nigth bnoat safari and they responded. The other staff – Fra (Fran? the dining room attendant), Nicodemos, and the cook (forgot her name sorry) were all friendly and welcoming. The food was superb and every meal was delicious and thoughtful and consisted of local fish, fruit, and freshly made bread each morning.

The animals around the lodge kept us well entertained – Conchita the Monkey, Loure the Parrot, Anta the Tapir, as well as the little crying monkey and the wild monkeys each morning which came down in the hope of some freshly baked rain cakes.

Our stay was really made by the staff in the Lodge who deserve to be well looked after by their employer as they are a real asset. I hope the owners of the Lodge value them, because they are worth their weight in gold.

I have attached 4 photos for use on your website only.

Thank you,
Débora & Matt (Curitiba Brasil/Sydney Australia)
