Well, firstly I’d like to say how brilliant you have been in helping us organise our jungle lodge stay. You have been fantastic at all stages, from the initial enquiry to booking the lodge, to ensuring that everything went smoothly. We really, really appreciate all your help- thank you!
We had a really great time overall at the Amazon Tupana Lodge – although there were aspects which could have been better. The standard of accommodation was fantastic- we had the bungalow room and it was lovely, and very well worth the extra money. The food was delicious, with lots of choice and we really loved the fact that lots of the food was very ‘Amazonian’. The public areas in the lodge were very good, as were the grounds and the lake at the front was perfect for swimming. It was great fun to go around by canoe, and camping in the jungle was a great experience.
We did have some criticisms, however- for example, if you weren’t at breakfast almost as soon as it started, then often the breakfast ran out. The quality of the excursions was ok, we thought, although not always brilliant- our guide was a bit disappointing to be honest, as we didn’t learn a huge amount about the flora and fauna of the region. Over 4 days at the lodge we didn’t meet the manager at all- I think it’s always useful to know who is in charge, in case of any problems. Finally, we thought that the public areas, while beautiful, could have had much more information about the region; for example, there weren’t any books on the birds, history or culture of the Amazon region, which is a shame because we like to learn about the area we are staying in.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable time, mainly due to the beauty of the area and the loveliness of our accommodation. However, there were definitely things which could have been improved.
