Our time in the Amazon was magical.
The structure of Juma Lodge is rustic but beautiful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The crew friendly and efficient. Logistics were quite impressive as timetables were surprisingly very closely respected.
I loved the fact that the lodge had the parrots, monkeys and a Tapir- Isabelle – as pets with whom we could interact. That was one of the highlights of the journey!
The hiking in the forest was unforgettable and the visit to Seu Pedro’s house was very interesting and educational.
The one thing I would single out that I did not enjoy, and wouldn’t want to do again was the Cayman spotting at night. It would have been ok if we only saw them at a distance , but catching one (in our case a youngster) caused clear and unnecessary fear and distress to the poor creature – not nice to watch and take part.
On the whole I would recommend Viverde and Juma Lodge as Gateways to the Amazon.
