Yes, we just came back yesterday. All of us had a wonderful time (except for the mosquitoes!); we saw and learned much. The staff were all friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I will definitely recommend the program at the Mamirauá Institute to people interested in going to the Amazon.
One suggestion: we were there for seven nights. After a couple left (after 4 nights), the program simply had the same activities. Of course we visited a different village and met with different researchers the second time around, but everything was pretty much the same. It is to the credit of the staff at the lodge that they listened to all our requests for different activities. The kids ended up going piranha fishing 3 times, which actually they enjoyed very much. I just think that perhaps the institute could think of something different to do for those staying seven nights…
