Guanavenas Lodge / Hotel Park Suites / Iberostar Grand Amazon

Dear Luciana

Thank you for your email.

Your services were excellent and we had an enjoyable holiday but I would like to make some comments.

Transfer between airports and hotels was excellent. Drivers were punctual, helpful and friendly.

Tropical Business – our 3 stays in an Experience Room with balcony were slightly disappointing as there were no chairs on the balcony. We had great difficulty in obtaining chairs so we could sit and enjoy the wonderful view.

Guanavenas – efficient transfers, wonderful location, pleasant public areas but rooms very basic. Trips with guides Ronaldo and Sid were excellent. Reception, bar and restaurant staff were unfriendly and we did not feel welcome. Food was poor and they made little effort to give us vegetarian food.

Iberostar Grand Amazon – wonderful ship, excellent accommodation, staff very friendly and helpful.
Trips from ship were poor, disorganised and lacked information. On the first morning we were stranded in the middle of the river for over 2 hours when the motorboat broke down. The radios did not work so we could not call for help. There was a storm with lightening and we were all concerned about our safety. This ruined the whole day.
We were not notified that the itinerary was changed, we returned to Manaus on 31 December to collect more passengers and then sailed to Ponta Negro for New Year celebrations. We were unhappy as we had already stayed at Ponta Negro for 4 nights.
Limited choice of vegetarian food. Our $100 New Year Dinner was a bowl of vegetable soup, plate of pasta and dessert. Poor value for money, it was not worth the cost and we’re going to write a letter of complaint to Iberostar Grand Amazon head office.

Regards
Lynne
