Tiwa Amazonas

Dear Luciana, I will write a few lines about our trip, but I must say it was wonderful. We all fell in love with Alex, and although he is a little shy, I think he got used to us by the end of the four days. Just a few sentences.

After seriously considering whether or not to go to the Amazon, two friends and myself cautiously decided to spend a few days on the river and in the rain forest. We were picked up at our hotel by a driver and our guide for the four days, Alex. There are many positive comments about Alex, but we found it so helpful to know that he was born and has lived near or in the Amazon all of his life. Any questions we asked, and being from the midwest there were many, he answered graciously, assuring us that any question was appropriate. The lodge (Tiwa Amazonas ) was a perfect setting for the Amazon, with a large bedroom for the three of us, and three delicious meals each day. We often had fish that was caught daily, prepared in amazing sauces and spices, and presented carefully for us to enjoy (I would have loved a piece of chocolate by the fourth day but that was just me)! The activities included lots of walking in the forest and learning some of the possible survival techniques. It was interesting, quiet, and different than I had expected, which made it a great adventure. We also met with a family who lives in the forest. By the closing of our experience, I would have liked to spend more time just floating up the river, meandering through the tributaries that were too low for our explorations, and walking through the forest. We were safely delivered by to our hotel at the end of the tour. If possible I would love to return and would hope to have the same lodge and guide. Thanks for the memories. Connie Deuschle
